Update from Local Authority

 

1.0

 

Purpose of the Report

 

 

To inform Members on work carried out by Local Authority Officers in the support of SACRE.

 

2.0       Communication and resourcing    

 

2.1       Local Authority Officers have met with the Professional RE Adviser in order to co-ordinate training and the work on auditing the websites.

 

2.2       The Local Authority Officers and Professional RE Adviser are working with the clerk to update and improve both the public facing and school facing website pages relating to SACRE, Religious Education and Collective Worship.  Further work to audit and update resources for schools will begin in September 2021.

           

2.3      Local Authority Officers have arranged for the termly newsletter to be distributed to schools via the Red Bag system, and posted both on the public facing and schools resources websites.

 

3.0       Training         

 

3.1       Feedback from training courses is collated by Business Support and the system is being updated for the next academic year to allow a more focused approach.

 

3.2       The training programme will be integrated into the overall School Improvement and Early Years training programme.  All Religious Education courses and groups will be included in an electronic training brochure and will be included in publicity and marketing by the central NYES team.

      

4.0       Support for Senior Leaders and Governors

 

4.1       The Professional RE Adviser and Local Authority Officers are also planning a briefing for all NYCC school advisers on the role of SACRE, the legal framework for RE and the locally agreed syllabus.

 

 

 

5.0       Monitoring of RE

 

5.1       Local Authority Officers are producing the electronic questionnaire at the end of June and will collate the results for analysis.
